Mortgage

Documents Typically Required when Applying

When you apply for a French mortgage you will be required to provide a reasonable quantity of paper work as the French system does not have credit checks. Because of this, the lender needs to obtain an image of your financial situation and the paperwork you provide them with allows this.

The documents requested will vary from lender to lender and also with your personal situation. The list below is an example only, your mortgage broker will be able to provide you with a more comprehensive list:

All purchasers are likely to be asked to supply copies of the following:

 A copy of their passport
 Last two years P60?s or tax declarations
 Last three months wage slips
 Last 2 or 3 years accounts for self employed applicants
 Last 3 months bank statements
 Mortgage and Loan repayment schedules and/or statements
 Any relevant document showing the personal contribution (deposit)
 French bank account details
 Proof of rental income for any buy to let properties already owned

Concerning the property

You will also be asked to supply copies of your reservation contracts and lease agreements as well as plans for the property you are purchasing. We can provide these to the lender directly if this is easier for you.
